ariane choreographs, directs and performs. she juggles, dances and writes – interested in the emotional expression of the aesthetic. originally a circus performer she often works referring to her professional training in object manipulation and contemporary circus but takes input from as well as trains in a big variety of disciplines. her work reaches from site specific clown performance to interactive exhibitions about historical subjects.
she views her practice as either undisciplined or inter- (sectional) disciplinary: her research interest in the last few years lies at the intersection of performative art and political activism.

based in vienna, ariane engages in various local art collectives (e.g. TRAP – circus center vienna), runs the queer feminist circus training B.I.T.C.H MOVES and works on her own projects. in 2013 she graduated from the professional circus school DIE ETAGE e.V. in berlin and after did a master’s degree in choreography at the unis codarts in rotterdam and fontys in tilburg (joint-degree COMMA – co-creation of movement master of arts). ariane spent the winter of 20/21 in toulouse to attend further training in the „formalisation de projet“ at ESACTO’Lido. in 2022 she took part in the ATLAS dance trails program of impulstanz festival.

for years she toured the world in various artistic contexts. since 2017 she has increasingly concentrated on realising her own projects (notably „play nice“ with roxana küwen and „memory – Wiener Zirkus im Nationalsozialismus“ with johanna prantz and natalja kreil, funded by SHIFT). she has won numerous awards for her productions “play nice“ and „sechZ“, received arts scholarships from the city of Munich and the BMKÖS (austrian ministry of culture).

ariane was born in munich and grew up in waldviertel.
before running away with the circus, she studied technical physics as well as theater, film and media studies in vienna. after many years abroad, she is back in austria to make art.
